Black Friday Shopping

Duh duh duh!!!!!

I don’t know if my musicality came through there but you can’t blame a girl for trying. The either dreaded or celebrated Black Friday shopping is close at hand! That wonderful time of year where parents run out to the stores and fight each other over the either amazing or what they hope are amazing deals on toys and electronics.

I used to hate the very idea of this day. It always took my mom from me. She would go out with my aunt and my Nana and be gone for a couple hours the morning after Thanksgiving. She would be tired the whole next day. I never knew she had been out since 3am!

Then when I was older she invited me to go along one year. We woke up super early, needless to say I was slightly jarred by the time. I remember I could barely open my eyes. My Nana and aunt were busy in the kitchen getting travel coffee mugs filled to the brim, one with coco for me. Out the door we set out into the dark of night. We headed to Kohls, Sears, and a couple other stores, I cannot remember. There were lines as long as the eye could see.

My mission:

My Nana saw a stack of very expensive pots and pans she had her eye on in a circular and told me to sneak through and hold one till they could get over there. A bunch of people were running to grab them. I had never seen anything like it! I was a little scared, okay a lot scared. All this for pots and pans! But in the end we got one. Happy Dance!

Then just as the sun was coming up we all needed a break and they decided to break tradition. They took me to iHop and we all got pancakes. I was welcomed into a new tribe, one I had always been apart of really. Now, I was finally old enough to appreciate.

I love memories like this. They are what shape who we are and where we are going. I cannot wait to form them with my girls.

Okay enough of the sap. Onto more pressing matters, Black Friday is coming this year!!!

Like its almost here, right around the corner. In fact, in most stores, its already here. So, make a plan and get it right. If you could see me right now you would see my finger pointing at you.

If you are in the saving money mode, as we are this (and every) year, this is a good time to do it. The online presence is big and you can always look there for the best deals in there circulars but the big 5 stores are of course…

  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Best Buy
  • Kohls
  • Macys

This is not to say stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, etc should not be considered, they should! It is all about you and what you are looking for.

Here are the best tips and plans I have learned from three very, very, VERY seasoned Black Friday shoppers. My Jedi masters if you will.

Honestly, now a days while yes, Black Friday is about saving, it’s more about the experience about going out and shopping. We have cyber Monday and different deals through the entire holiday season. Often times those are better than black Friday but its a “crossing your fingers they come” and patience thing. You might not be comfortable waiting.

Remember who you are buying for. Keep the spirit of the holiday with you each time you go out this and every year.

XOXO,

Kristin

Oh one more VERY important thing!!! IF you are looking for some awesome toys that very few other kids are going to have, we will be  having an awesome Black Friday sale over at Discovery Toys. Click here to check it out!!!
